Food for inspiration
THE WORD: These videos are for Americans that love democracy or even have a bit of subconscious nostalgia for truth, justice, and the American way. Focusing on the word; “democracy” in our messages could touch on something profound in even the most stubborn skeptics. And it’s one big issue everyone can rally around. Democracy is “American Nostalgia” i.e. truth, justice and the American way.
WIDE REACHING: We want to make these works as friendly, inviting, even stress-reducing as possible so they can 1) appeal to everyone and reach the broadest possible population, 2) keep our part peaceful, and 3) let Common Cause do the heavy lifting.
NOT: Most efforts express vitriol, anger, fear and name calling. This mission doesn't preempt anyone from what they might do in another setting. This is a special strategy. We are taking the kindness path recommended by social psychologists and the wise - a path least traveled - a path that honors humanity - a path with low hanging fruit that otherwise will be missed.
NON-CONFRONTATIONAL: To that end we aim to keep the messages nonpartisan and avoid language or images expressing anger, fear, frustration or political personality. We are shooting for stress-free friendly media that is inviting to all, especially those that are non-political and averse to argumentation. We hope to appeal to persons of all ideologies so long as they have room for democracy,
PERFECTION: Our American democracy, an almost perfect system, in an imperfect world with less than perfect participant. It’s in our hands to move us forward to fairness and functionality, and protect people’s civil rights, safety and stability. Democracy is the underpinning of a prosperous economy and It’s a system we’ve been proud to call our own: It is our voice, it is our power, and no matter who we are, we know it is worth working for.
Repeated from the SHARE page: We are following the path that takes the negative energy and redirects it in a positive way. It is not an “anti current administration” path but a pro-democracy path with infinite options, that are not only effective, but mentally healthy. Something like Aikido. Aikido, is a Japanese martial art. It is an approach to conflict resolution that focuses on redirecting an opponent's energy rather than directly opposing it or trying to overpower it. In this case the opponent is any action that drowns out or compromises the people’s voice. We don’t attack it with facts or arguments, we redirect it and focus on the protection of our democracy by taking positive action where it can actually help everyone in a concrete way; in the courts; in legislation; on the streets and etc. This makes Jingles for Democracy a good way to keep our inner peace while actually taking an active part in the political process and accomplishing something positive, effective, and good.
